5/21/2023 0 Comments Beersmith 2 vs 3![]() Follow BeerSmith for your hopping schedule it has done well for me in that fashion too. I normally mash, sparge, collect my boil volume the boil for 60-75 mins with 20 mins left I check the SG and make up the difference by adding my sugars then too. Sure its great to mash all that grain and come in at 1.090ish but adding sugar has worked good for me. I would mash at like 148 so you can help get your FG as low as you can but I have also made up my gravity points with DME and/or Table sugar. I have followed that method a few times with good results. I was planning to do late addition of the LME and maybe sub some table sugar for some of the LME to make sure I get the FG as low as I can.I think your method of obtaining your SG for an IIPA is a good idea. Anyone have any advice on this? The numbers work out okay in BeerSmith and have me nicely in the Imperial IPA range for OG and IBU. Kinda like a big partial mash extract batch. Now I'm not sure I'm going to brew because the timing doesn't work out well with a vacation I have planned at the end of the month.I was planning to brew my regular 1.060 IPA, double the bittering hops and add LME to get up to the 1.090 range. I have an IPA to keg and was going to use the yeast cake.
